In May 2009, the team from Thomson-Reuters set out from Land’s End. They consisted of: James Wych, Keith Elliott, Tim Fowler, Paul Elliott and Mark Beaumont. They wanted a BIG challenge, so decided to cycle the 877 miles to John O’ Groats in 5 days! Mad! They were supported in 2 camper vans by Mark’s dad (Tony), and Tim’s wife (Jackie), who fed them at various intervals throughout their gruelling days of cycling. There was also massaging, and lots of knee taping to be done!
On the first day, they cycled from Land’s End to Burnham-On-Sea (187 miles); on day two they got to Warrington (186 miles), day three to Abington in Scotland (178 miles); day four to Fort Augustus (173 miles) and finally John O’ Groats (153 miles) on day five.
A huge achievement alone, but they also raised £1,511.00 for Interface Uganda. So a big thank you to the whole team.
