Interface Uganda-Volunteer, Fund Raising Supporter
My childhood years were spent in Kent. I undertook my Nursing Training in the early seventies at Charing Cross Hospital, London. I was in nursing ever since – for over 40 years, but am now retired.
For the last 25 years my speciality was been Day Surgery, working in Watford, Herts, and then after moving to East Devon in 2000, at Sidmouth Community Hospital.
It was at Sidmouth that I met the Plastic Surgeon Andrew Hodges, who spoke about his life in Uganda, where he was returning to work and live. His enthusiasm for the charity was contagious and I have been involved ever since, both as a visiting nurse to Uganda and fund raising for the charity.
My church, Primley URC and Sidmouth Methodist Church both support the charity and we try to have varying events through out the year to raise funds, which have included amongst others, concerts, markets, quizzes and sponsored walk.
I am also a mum of 2 grown-up sons and I am a grandma to Charlie, Kieran, Maisie and Amelie.
