Where? Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre Lecture Theatre, at the RD&E hospital (Wonford site). The orthopaedic entrance at the back of the hospital is the easiest way to find us. There will be people and signs up so you don’t get lost!

Surgical trainee, Linda funded for microsurgery course in India

Linda is now in her 3rd year, training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at CoRSU hospital. Interface Uganda funded Linda to go on a microsurgical training course at Coimbatore, India in April and May this year. Linda has written us a great report about her experience there – she states: ‘An amazing, relevant and much needed training opportunity for any plastic surgeon or trainee and I am grateful that I got this chance.’

New physio – Amon – to help Ken in Kagando for 3 months

Following the success of the previous 3 placements, Interface is funding another newly qualified physiotherapist to help Ken in Kagando for the next 3 months. His name is Amon Nuwahereza. He qualified from Mbarara University in May this year. There were 6 newly qualified physiotherapists interested in the post, and it was a difficult choice, but Amon sent us some very good reports from his student placements, answered our questions well, and supplied us with his CV. New administrator for reconstructive surgery in Uganda

With all the new trainee reconstructive surgeons now in CoRSU, Andrew Hodges (consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon at CoRSU and founder of Interface Uganda) and George Galliwango (head of plastic and reconstructive surgery at CoRSU hospital) needed help with the administration. There is a lot to coordinate with teaching, visiting surgeons coming out to teach, courses to arrange, timetabling, as well as updating us about patients, etc, etc.
So Andrew asked Interface if we could fund Linna to help them, as [...]
