Great linking of charities to help people with cleft lips and palates

Fantastic news about Lucy – funded to have a cleft lip repair by Interface Uganda
Thank you for sharing your photo and story with us.

This is from Amigos Worldwide (Kira Farm), who wrote this on our facebook page:

Amigos FarmLucy is part of an Amigos’ farming group in Gulu. She was born with a cleft lip and we were keen to help her receive medical attention. Since Amigos is more into seeds than surgery we decided to seek help on the matter!

We quickly got in touch with a charity called Interface Uganda who are based in Exeter. This brilliant charity arranged for Lucy to receive corrective surgery at CoRSU hospital in Kampala – they even found a number of other people in Lucy’s surrounding villages with the same condition and operated on everyone at the same time. Interface Uganda provided all of this care completely free.

We’ll post pictures in the New Year of Lucy when her scars have healed and she is ready to smile for the camera. By then she will have doubled her crop yields which will give her plenty to smile about!
