This patient has been suffering for many years with an unknown condition in which he has had severe pelvic pain, incontinence and difficulty walking. He has been under the care of many doctors in Mulago, but no surgery was undertaken other than a colostomy. In desperation the palliative care team brought him to us and though his condition was not plastic surgical, we took him to theatre to examine him and pulled out a huge piece of bone coming from his pelvis into his rectum. We did not know what the cause of this condition was, but he has since made a dramatic improvement - he is now pain free and continent!! Though we are not able to explain what happened or why he has improved. He is incredibly grateful after suffering for over 10 years with this condition.
